"A clown with an axe walks into a church..." by James Pratt June 16, 2011 $0.99 4963 words Sample 30%
Author bio:
James Pratt likes to create realistically flawed but basically decent characters and have them cross paths with serial killer angels, redneck vampires, slithering horrors from other dimensions, and the end of the world. He also likes to write stories that demonstrate how the ever-present darkness threatening to wash over the world like a wave of endless night can be held back with a little courage and a big shotgun (assuming one hasn't already used both barrels, of course). Some take place in the distant past, others in the far future, and still others somewhere between eight minutes ago and twelve minutes from now. Whether sci-fi, adventure, or straight-out horror, the running theme is that the universe is very, very big and we are very, very small.

Who am I? A children's author. I cover all market sectors from those aimed at the very young (often to be read to them) up to the Young Adult market. All my books slot into specific imprints according to length and target audience. As follows... Snippets - Shorter books aimed at younger readers or adults looking for something to read to them at bedtime. BratReads - No, not books for brats, books that are themselves a little brat-ish. By turns, funny, awkward, anarchic or just a little thoughtful. TeenReads - As the name implies, books for teenagers. Adventurous and rebellious. Next in the series: 'No, Papa'. Interludes - A series of short books aimed at the Young Adult/Crossover audience. Mystical, mysterious and sometimes a little scary, you might want to read these with the light on. Tales of the Night - Full length ghost stories for the YA/Crossover market. Next in the series: 'Heretic'. Shona Madoc - She's young, she's blonde and she's a little spitfire when riled. If that isn't enough to make you keep your distance, she's also a medium. Next in the series: 'Congregation'. Anything not included in the above is a stand-alone novel for the YA/Crossover market. One title so far - 'Continuum' - to be followed by 'Mount 37', a dystopian novel set in the uncomfortably near future. All my books subject to translation can now be found here: https://www.smashwords.com/profile/view/boglebooks/authors#published As for me on a personal level, I'm English born and bred, now living in Denmark. 20 Years After The Zombie Apocalypse by Lee Emerick 20 Years After The Zombie Apocalypse by Lee Emerick April 20, 2011 $2.99 33212 words Sample 15%
Author bio:
About the Author Lee Emerick born July 1982, is an author based in Staffordshire, England. Father to Libbi and William, married to Alison Emerick Lee enjoys writing in the little spare time he has available. Keenly interested in the genres of Sci-Fi and Horror, Lee is looking to expand his horizons and move into the Crime/thriller genre with his latest work ‘The Mind of a Killer’. Background Born in Harlow, Essex, Lee moved to Leek, Staffordshire at the age of 4. Schooled at Leek High School then subsequently Leek College Lee has been in continuous professional employment since then. After several failed attempts at writing a book, Lee finally succeeded in 2009 when he released Super Nova. A book of the Sci-Fi genre, Lee took the inspiration from his favourite films and based the characters entirely on his friends. Please with the outcome of Super Nova, a sequel was soon to follow called Mechanical Jihad. Influenced by the Dune series Lee had so enjoyed it was written as a tribute to the series as well as to compliment Super Nova. Moving on from Sci-Fi, Lee entered the Horror genre with Extinction Theory in 2010. Please with the outcome and popularity with the book Lee then decided to take Horror a step further and enter the Post Apocalyptic sub genre of Horror. After publishing 20 Years After The Zombie Apocalypse and the success of strong sales and positive reviews, Lee quickly followed it with the sequel Survival After The Zombie Apocalypse which has also been very successful. Looking to explore other genres Lee is currently writing a book by the name of The Mind of a Killer which will be an entry into the Crime/Thriller genre. Also in the pipeline is a return to Sci-Fi but of a Post-Apocalyptic sub genre currently titled Solar Apocalypse which will explore the end of earth and the survivors left behind. Interests Genres of interest go without saying really, Sci-Fi, Horror and more recently crime. Zombies in particular hold my fascination! The Dune Series - to be fair it is just awesome. Looking after the kids (not always through choice!). Entertaining the wife (hard work at times). Science and technology Contact info@leeemerick.co.uk

30 Minute Plan by Gerald Rice 30 Minute Plan by Gerald Rice Feb. 22, 2011 Free! 11337 words Read a sample
Author bio:
Okay, my last biography was loooooong and boring. I didn't realize how dull it was until I actually tried to go back and read it. Blah-blah-blah. Anyway. I'm Gerald Dean Rice. Used to be Gerald Rice--I suppose I still am, but all future works shall include my middle name. It's a rebranding thing. I've always been into horror. When I was in kindergarten my mother took me right from school to see Creepshow. I saw a ton of stuff I shouldn't have when I was a kid. I got a book of ghost stories when I was 11 for Christmas. These were the days before YA novels, unless you picked up one of those namby-pamby VC Andrews books. Okay, scratch that; I've never actually read a VC Andrews book. But the more I read and the older I got the more I wanted to write my own stories. I tried my hand at writing comic book stories with my best friend in high school, but we had no clue how to break into comics. I submitted my first story to Cemetery Dance back in 2000. It took somewhere around 7 months for the to respond. I was so proud even though they'd rejected me. The truth of it was it wasn't a very original story and it was very straightforward. There was a whole lot I didn't know about writing back then. But I learned pretty quick and have since had stories published in print and on-line. My first novel, "The Ghost Toucher", was published in 2010. It was born out of several failed novel-writing attempts and I'm immensely proud of what I created. I've since put out a couple short collections of my own and a few zombie shorts. My newest project, "Fleshbags" was just published. I kind of had a "In Treatment" thing in my head like when Paul's patients have some aspect of them reflected in his personal life. I blended my characters that way (tough to explain what I mean). But it's definitely something different than you've ever read and I'd suggest giving it a try.

6:02 by Mark A. Clements 6:02 by Mark A. Clements May 11, 2011 $1.99 81745 words Sample 20%
Author bio:
From earliest childhood, Mark A. Clements loved both storytelling and visual art. With characteristic practicality, he decided he had a better chance of making a living as an artist than as a writer, so he chose to go to art school and relegate writing to the status of "hobby." Later, art degree in hand, he reversed his priorities and began his first novel. The eventual result was the sale of "6:02" to a mainstream publisher. This was followed by the sales of three more novels, all published in hardcover. Two of them, "Lorelei" and "The Land of Nod," went on to win their categories in the San Diego Book Awards, while "The Land of Nod" also took the Theodore S. Geisel Award for Best of the Best of all books competing that year. All four novels have at various times been optioned for film. In the interim, children and economics (which so often go together) compelled Mark to ghostwrite for other people. He also teaches writing courses at San Diego Writer's Ink, and leads workshops at various writer's conferences in Southern California. Meanwhile, he's finishing up a new novel, which he hopes to sell to a traditional print publisher as well as make available in ebook format. Speaking of which, he's thrilled to re-release his first four novels as ebooks. Featuring his own cover art. What goes around...

A Brief Moment of Lucidity by John Vault A Brief Moment of Lucidity by John Vault April 11, 2011 $1.99 5565 words Sample 30%
Author bio:
I'm an Englishman abroad in New Zealand, having moved here from the UK about four years ago. Writing for me has evolved from a means of escapism into something of an obsession. A subject that plays a major part in the content of many of my stories. Yes I'm pretty much infatuated with lunacy. It scares the hell out of me. It's all the unpredictability I think. My writing style is unorthodox and rarely sticks firmly to the genre for which it is presented, which is good because formulaic horror is like an 80's pop single. Same old, same old. I like to flip rapidly between gory horror and farcical comedy. I think that this kind of contrast amplifies the effects of both. It certainly affects me that way. I saw a film once, a long time ago, called 'The old dark house'. It was basically horror comedy but it was done so well that it just creeped me out for months! Another of my favourites (for all the wrong reasons) is 'Eraser head'. The atmosphere in this movie just blew me away. I've been criticised in the past for rampant use of expletives in character dialogue but I don't care. The characters that I write about actually live for me. I get to know them like friends and all my friends swear like troopers! I consider myself a normal man, having a wife, children and several household pets, but I have a real dark side and the best way to appease it is to write horror stories. I don't like stuff where the hero always wins out because justice has no place in horror either. Sometimes the hero and the villain are the same character. Sometimes the villains win and the heroes meet with ghastly deaths. When you see the villain/monster die in flames at the end of a movie, it's over. Why not let it live and enjoy the possibility that it just may turn up at your bedroom window in the middle of the night? Isn't that sooo much sexier? If you want to get in touch please feel free to do so. But no stalkers please. I'm fully booked in that department until somewhere around January 2025! I can be reached via my e-publisher at: HiRiscPublications@gmail.com - please put 'FAO John Vault' in the subject header and I'll get it.

Author bio:
Tom Raimbault resides in the Chicago land area with his wife and two daughters. When not writing, he works as a lab technician at a telecommunications company and is self-described on his resume as a “technology professional” who has worked with cellular & IP infrastructure, biomedical equipment, emergency two-way radios and computer hardware. Tom began to produce weird writings back in 2000 while working the graveyard shift. The nightly edits were emailed to a small collection of coworkers who looked forward to something unusual to keep them awake or humored. This practice was ended when he was moved to a different shift. Sadly, his enjoyment of writing was forgotten for several years, until the autumn of 2007, when old friends received a “blast from the past” email with the recognizable words, “Hello All”. The strange writings and short stories had resumed and a personal website was soon to follow. In autumn of 2009, Tom published his first book, Freaked out Horror (a collection of short stories). The work has been temporarily unpublished and will be re-released in 2011 with many additions, revisions and improvements. Check out his website that includes the blog at: http://sites.google.com/site/tomraimbaultwritings/ Tom is always open to new friends on Facebook where he shares photos from his nature hikes, family vacations and any random thoughts throughout the day.
