Intro
In years past article marketing was where it was at. Little competition. Ezinearticles.com would dominate search results. Life was good.
Things change. What becomes an "untapped opportunity" is soon discovered and bastardized by the masses... and then it becomes just a regular old opportunity, no better or worse than the next.
Of course, the early adopters made a killing. Nothing lasts forever, but if you get in early, you make the most money in the easiest way possible.
There was a period of time where you could make very good money just writing articles for other people. Marketers would hire you to write short, simple 400 word articles around keywords, and you used to easily make $10 an article.
Now you're lucky to make $5 an article.
Because article marketing is not as effective as it once was.
But what about video? It's the "new" article marketing so to speak. And if you play your cards right, you can get in quick and make a killing. Here is one of the easiest ways to do it.
Step 1: Find an Article Wizard
You won't write articles - you'll translate existing articles into videos. So you really create no new content. You just take old content and reformat it in a new way for someone - and distribute it FOR THEM...
And they do nothing but pay you for this additional exposure. Nice.
One of the easiest ways is to go to ezinearticles.com and click on "expert authors". Here are the results you'll see: http://ezinearticles.com/?type=experts
At the time of this writing there are people with as many as 23,458 articles! And there are SEVERAL with over one thousand articles.
I recommend you find someone with between 750 to 1500 articles to start. Why in that range? Because they're not making a killing yet and they're more open to ideas to expand their business.
Second, do a bit of research to see what they're promoting. The best are authors who promote a wide variety of products in a wide variety of niches because clearly they are marketers who want to generate traffic to a LOT of different sites.
Finally, see where they are sending that traffic. Try to find sites that look like they'd make a lot of money for the person writing the article. Why is this important? Because it means that person is probably doing okay and would have money to invest to hire you.
This is just one example for ezinearticles.com. There are other ways to get clients. We will share one more with you: find people who frequently hire article writers... and then make them an offer to translate existing articles into videos.
Step 2: Pricing
How much can you get paid for this service? Well it all depends.
First, it depends on how well you sell the service. Second, it depends on how quick you are. You'll discover a technique in a minute for turning articles into videos in about 5 minutes.
That means it's VERY easy to do 10 videos an hour. If you charged $10 per video, that's $100 an hour.
Or you could do this - value enhance. Not only will you create the videos for them, you'll distribute them. You could use a service like Traffic Geyser or even a free service like Tube Mogul and submit the videos for them.
Then you could charge $20 a video with the right approach.
Of course it will take you a bit longer to distribute the videos, but that's okay. Even if you create now only 6 videos an hour including distribution, but you charge $20 per video, that's $120 an hour.
That's why making $60 an hour is very doable. Because you could be really slow and only make 6 videos an hour and do just the basics and charge $10 per video, and there you go - $60 an hour.
The real money is in skewing supply and demand. Here's what we recommend when you start off. You make them a deal. For the first 10 videos you only charge them $4 per video. That means you should make about $40 an hour - not bad at all.
Then, if they like it they can hire you for more work at your normal rate of $10 per video.
Do this with enough people, and pretty soon you'll have a ton of customers who want to keep using you. Then you can raise your prices because you have more people demanding your service than you can supply.
Step 3: Creating the Videos
Most 400 word articles translate into 3 1/2 minute videos. That means you have 90 seconds to turn an article into a video. Can you do it?
Yes.
You need Microsoft PowerPoint and a multi-line "find and replace" text editor. What you do is open up a new text file. Then you copy and paste the article into that text file.
Next, you do a "find and replace" and what you're going to find is a "period + a space", or literally ". "
You will replace it with a "return". What you did was made each sentence its own line. And you did so in a few seconds. Great.
Now import that text file into PowerPoint. Just go to "File -> Open" and select "all files" from the drop down menu on the lower left. Then locate where you saved that text file and open it.
That will make each line its own slide. It will look funky until we do the next step. This is where we select all slides. To do this just click on one slide, then press control + a. Now right click, select"layout", and change all the slides to title slides.
There you go. The slides for your video are all formatted.
If you want to take it to the next level, you can click on "Slide Master", and make your own specific format for this technique. Then save that PowerPoint template, and any time in the future you need it, you can use it with just one click.
Finally, record the videos with screen capture software. You can use free software such as Jing Project or Cam Studio, or you can use Camtasia. Whatever. It doesn't matter.
You can also use your own voice to narrate it (recommended) or you can use a text to audio software - some of them sound VERY human. Whatever.
Do what works best for you to get this going and get some clients.
