I gave up security for the chance to share my stories. I launched Collective Inkwell with my writing partner, David Wright (www.davidwwright.com). We had previously ghostwritten books for clients and copy for businesses. Now, we're excited to focus on our own books. I live in Ohio with my wife and two children. |

The Rewinding Murder | by Rochelle Ragnarok Jan. 01, 2012 | Free! | 6599 words | Read a sample |
| Author bio: I was born in Michigan in 1980 where I've lived a normal life, except for one thing. I love to write! I've always had an over active imagination and typically put a story to almost anything. I began when I was 12 years old writing little high school drama stories that became lost somewhere as the years progressed. In my late teens I wrote notebooks of poetry, three screenplays (Two of them Horror), and several short stories. Right now most of that stuff is buried in my closet, sadly never to see the light of day but I can't bear to throw it away! I've always had a knack for writing stories that were a little out there and when I discovered yaoi it was just one more thing that was shuffled into the mix. After years of debating, I've decided to throw myself into the world of writing and see what happens. I don't expect anything but to have my stories read and I can't wait to see what will happen next! |

Fear | by Sammi Strasser Jan. 24, 2011 | Free! | 2557 words | Read a sample |
| Author bio: Hola! Heeheehee, hey! My names' Sammi! Well ... it's REALLY Samantha. but, you might have already guessed that. YOU WANT MY BIO?!?!?! here you go! :D The first book I ever read was Black Beauty. And, honestly...I HATED it. Now that I look back, it really wasn't bad at all. When i think about it, I'm pretty sure that the only reason I didn't like it was because it wasn't... young (?) enough. Then I read A Wrinkle In Time. It was okkay, but still not my style, ya know? Then, like a moon shining through the clouds, a book descended on me. Dragon Rider, by Cornelia Funke. And that was the catalyst for me. Now, instead of hating books, I LOVE THEM! hahaha. Writing is kind of a different story. I never really liked it, but I didn't hate it either. Then, a couple of years ago, in the sixth grade, I wrote a report. I chose to write a "journal" from the....it was during the revolution...and it had the Boston Massacre in it. Whatever,( XD ) so He made me read a couple of my journal entries. He looked really impressed, but didn't say any thing. Later, I got the report back, nd what he said astounded me. He told me i had the makings for a real author. Honestly, i think he was just being kind to me. There were TONS of grammar, punctuation, and tense crap. I look back at it thinking, "It's a good start!" Because, that IS what started me actually writing. Well, thats all you really need to know... XD ~Sammi :D |

Dark Places of Rest | by Brick Marlin Feb. 03, 2011 | Free! | 14047 words | Read a sample |
| Author bio: Brick Marlin has been writing since he was a child. From an early age he was exposed to older, original horror movies. The great ones that have made a mark in history. He also tackled reading the likes of Stephen King, Clive Barker, Ray Bradbury, Kurt Vonnegut, Dean Koontz, Charles Dickens, Harper Lee, H.G. Wells, W. W. Jacobs, etc. Thus, he decided to engage himself and write horror and dark fantasy, scaring readers such as his parents, his friends, a handful of neighbors, and even leaving a few school teachers scratching their heads wondering if the boy should be committed or not with his gruesome tales of terror. Short story ideas continued to visit. A book idea or two sometimes stopped by for a sit. In 2007 he decided to take a more professional approach with his work. Hence, as a member of the Horror Writers Association, already having five books published by small presses with one more in the works coming soon, nearly twenty-five short stories published, adding to the few anthologies and collaborations with other authors, Brick Marlin trudges onward, hoping to achieve more creations, living in the minds of his characters making decisions such as whether to turn the knob and enter through the Red Door, or perhaps try and take a chance at the Blue Door, the one that is already ajar, a bony finger beckoning the next visitor. |

Sticks Like Bones | by Keri Knutson May 01, 2011 | Free! | 8279 words | Read a sample |
| Author bio: I've been writing since I could hold a crayon, and reading nearly as long. I love books, especially spec fic, and write inside my head constantly. Some of that makes it to the page. Other than writing, I love hockey, beer, zombie movies, the Whedonverse, Doctor Who, and being the keeper of archaic words nobody uses anymore and all obscure character actor knowledge. I share my life with my five kids, 3 dogs, 2 cats, and my sweetie, who in "high concept" is best described as a cross between a young Donald Sutherland and Peter Forsberg. Along with the first two installments of the Maddie Pryce Hollywood Mystery Series, Darker By Degree and Director's Cut, I'm the author of several short stories and the upcoming novels Running Red, Dead of Winter, and A Willingness of Witches. |

Ghosts For A Sensible Age | by James Pratt June 11, 2011 | Free! | 4512 words | Read a sample |
| Author bio: James Pratt likes to create realistically flawed but basically decent characters and have them cross paths with serial killer angels, redneck vampires, slithering horrors from other dimensions, and the end of the world. He also likes to write stories that demonstrate how the ever-present darkness threatening to wash over the world like a wave of endless night can be held back with a little courage and a big shotgun (assuming one hasn't already used both barrels, of course). Some take place in the distant past, others in the far future, and still others somewhere between eight minutes ago and twelve minutes from now. Whether sci-fi, adventure, or straight-out horror, the running theme is that the universe is very, very big and we are very, very small. |
