Book1; Ready Freddy and the Great Pop Bottle Caper | by r. a. Ben Miller Oct. 12, 2011 | Free! | 3659 words | Read a sample |
| Author bio: I was born in Seattle. My first 15 years I was an Army brat. We traveled a lot. I lived inside my stories. From an early age (9) I wrote down the short stories that I told to myself. Later, (25)a couple of the stories got away from me and became novels. During my teaching career, I wrote some text books that I won't bore you with. On the side I perform and teach guitar. Starting with the 1st edition in 1976, it grew into a 12 book set on how to play. The 8th edition of these books will not appear on this platform. My original guitar book publisher went out of business but I kept writing the books. I use them in my teaching practce and I sell them off the stage with my CD's at shows and at work shops. |

| Author bio: In my romances you will find many different circumstances. This is because we all fall in love differently and I'm trying to cover all the ways. From boy and girl next door, to years of seperation, to instant attraction. I've always been a romantic so I spend a lot of time thinking along the lines of "how did you fall in love". There are so many stories this way. I hope you like some of them. Look around, I've got short stories for adults, and children. I've got historical western romance, I've got contemporary romances. All of them different in some way. Browse the series books too, you'll get that warm and cozy feeling with the Travers Brothers Series, and discover The Amory's a bunch of rugged men from the north country. There's something for everyone here, including the kids. I hope you stay long enough to sample some, and by all means if you feel like it and you read one of my books or stories, write a review about it. I love hearing from my readers. |

The Emo Bunny That Should, A Story For Demented Children | by John H. Carroll Jan. 24, 2011 | Free! | 4893 words | Read a sample |
| Author bio: John H. Carroll was the youngest of seven children and was born in Atlanta, Georgia in 1970 where he was kept in a dresser drawer with the clean socks. Luckily he wasn’t kept with the dirty socks or else he might have grown up to become slightly warped. As a child, John spent most of his time wandering through the Mojave Desert in an attempt to avoid people. He would stare at the sky, imagining what it would be like to explore different worlds. One of his favorite memories is watching his dad build the fuselage of Evel Kneivel’s skycycle in their garage. One of his least favorite moments was watching that skycycle fall into the Snake River. (Not his dad’s fault and he has documentation to prove it, so nyah) As a teenager, John spent most of his time driving wherever he could in an attempt to avoid people. He would stare at the road, imagining what it would be like to explore different worlds. He was the captain of the chess team and lettered in golf and band while in high school and wasn’t beaten up anywhere near as much as one might imagine. As an adult, John spent most of his time staring at a computer screen in an attempt to avoid people. He stares at the monitor for hours, imagining what it would be like to explore different worlds. He has been married to his wonderful wife for 14 years and they have three obnoxio . . . wonderful children who always behave . . . when they’re asleep. John is surrounded at most times by emo bunny minions. He is their imaginary friend and they look to him for guidance. At one point they took over the world. No one noticed because they left everything exactly as it was. They gave the world back after a week because it was depressing. The Willden Trilogy is his first series of books. All of his short stories are free and he is working on various novellas as well as a new series coming out in late 2011. He writes in the evenings and weekends whenever possible. Regrettably, the family mentioned in the previous paragraph desires food and shelter, requiring the author to possess a full time job until such time as his writing makes him rich. |

Singing Wind | by William Woodall March 11, 2009 | Free! | 3351 words | Read a sample |
| Author bio: I've been writing stories almost since I was able to pick up a jumbo crayon and put words on paper. I love what I do and I feel blessed to have the opportunity to share these tales with my readers. My work is typically classified as young adult literature, if only because the stories are clean and most of the characters are young. There's more to it than that, though. Every book I've ever personally loved has been what I'd call ageless. That is, it contains something that can touch the heart of a child while he's still too young and raw to appreciate subtlety, but there's also something in it that he can still feed on when he's old and gray, although perhaps not the same things. It's my aspiration to write stories like that. In fact, the majority of my readers are adults who want to read something that will uplift them and make them feel glad to be alive that day. We all need beautiful stories, and without them we suffer. If you'd like to know more about me or my work, please visit my official author's website at www.williamwoodall.org |

Murky Manor | by Steven & Margaret Larson Sep. 10, 2009 | Free! | 36231 words | Read a sample |
| Author bio: After reading fantasy for many years, we took up the pen and began writing. Our stories are children’s fantasy tales about travel and discovery. These are not the trips advertised in a colorful adventure brochure. These journeys begin by stepping through a secret door into a gnome world, or using a magnifying glass to slip into a picture. Sometimes worlds merge together in mist, or time overlaps in the darkness of a cave. In the sunlight, our modest home is not nearly as enchanting as the gnome house of our imagination. The maple and dogwoods in our yard do not have secret doors, at least none that we have discovered. Gnomes sitting in the grass amid the dandelions appear to be simple statuary. But when things are bathed in silky moonlight, when clouds gather and add texture to the sky, or at dusk and dawn when stars are like freckles on the heavens, it is then the shadows and light give delightful hints of things that inspire the imagination. As any writer will tell you, a story is meant to be shared. We hope you enjoy our books. |

I'm publishing my short stories to help understand ebooks and Smashwords better, and when I'm ready, I'll work my way to putting a book up here. I have a son who just turned one, and is way more fun than a monkey on a bun (and I can watch one of those for hours). If you want to see a picture of what Jordan the Pirate looked like when he was younger, go to my Facebook page and see our little boy Noli. Neat kid, huh? He said it'd be okay if I shared his bedtime stories with you, so enjoy. |

'I want ice cream!' (Snippets) | by David Elvar April 21, 2011 | Free! | 1011 words | Read a sample |
| Author bio: Who am I? A children's author. I cover all market sectors from those aimed at the very young (often to be read to them) up to the Young Adult market. All my books slot into specific imprints according to length and target audience. As follows... Snippets - Shorter books aimed at younger readers or adults looking for something to read to them at bedtime. BratReads - No, not books for brats, books that are themselves a little brat-ish. By turns, funny, awkward, anarchic or just a little thoughtful. TeenReads - As the name implies, books for teenagers. Adventurous and rebellious. Next in the series: 'No, Papa'. Interludes - A series of short books aimed at the Young Adult/Crossover audience. Mystical, mysterious and sometimes a little scary, you might want to read these with the light on. Tales of the Night - Full length ghost stories for the YA/Crossover market. Next in the series: 'Heretic'. Shona Madoc - She's young, she's blonde and she's a little spitfire when riled. If that isn't enough to make you keep your distance, she's also a medium. Next in the series: 'Congregation'. Anything not included in the above is a stand-alone novel for the YA/Crossover market. One title so far - 'Continuum' - to be followed by 'Mount 37', a dystopian novel set in the uncomfortably near future. All my books subject to translation can now be found here: https://www.smashwords.com/profile/view/boglebooks/authors#published As for me on a personal level, I'm English born and bred, now living in Denmark. I'm married to Soprano Maria Johannsen whose homepage can be found here: http://www.mariajohannsen.dk/ I may be contacted on ghosthunter457(at)gmail(dot)com |

| Author bio: William Forde was born in Ireland and currently lives in Haworth, West Yorkshire, England. He is the father of five children and the author of 28 published books and a musical play. He is unique in the field of contemporary children's authors through the challenging emotional issues and story themes he addresses, preferring to focus upon those emotions that children find most difficult to appropriately express. One of West Yorkshire's most popular children's authors, his books have been publicly read in over 2,000 Yorkshire school assemblies by over 800 famous names and celebrities from the realms of Royalty, Film, Stage, Screen, Politics, Church, Sport, etc. The late Princess Diana used to read his earlier books to her then young children, William and Harry and Nelson Mandela once telephoned him to praise an African story book he had written. Others who have supported his works have included three Princesses, three Prime Ministers, two Presidents and numerous Bishops of the realm.A former Chief Inspector of Schools for Ofsted described his writing to the press as 'High quality literature.' Forever at the forefront of change, at the age of 18 years, William became the youngest Youth Leader and Trade Union Shop Steward in Great Britain. In 1971, he founded Anger Management in Great Britain and freely gave his courses to the world. Within the next two years, Anger Management courses had mushroomed across the English-speaking world. During the mid-70's, he introduced Relaxation Training into H.M. Prisons and between 1970 and 1995, he worked in West Yorkshire as a Probation Officer specialising in Relaxation Training, Anger Management, Stress Management and Assertive Training Group Work. He retired early on the grounds of ill health in 1995 to further his writing career, which witnessed him working with the Minister of Youth and Culture in Jamaica to establish a trans-Atlantic pen-pal project between 30 primary schools in Falmouth, Jamaica and 30 primary schools in Yorkshire. William was awarded the MBE in the New Year's Honours List of 1995 for his services to West Yorkshire. He has never sought to materially profit from the publication of his books and has allowed all profit from their sales (approx £200,000) to be given to charity. |

Deb's stories touch on the core of what it is to be young without the darkness prevalent in so many of today's YA works. |

The Land of Fear | by William Woodall March 11, 2009 | Free! | 5581 words | Read a sample |

Poppycock Place Series -Benjamin Froglin | by Tobias Dingbat March 04, 2011 | Free! | 1327 words | Read a sample |
| Author bio: Tobias Dingbat gave up a serious career in circus clowning to freelance as a political speech-writer. It happened that Australian politics entered a golden age of self-serving clowns for whom he wrote meaningless speeches. He is now retired, having divorced a show pony, an elephant and an alcoholic monkey. This first illustrated book is Part 1 of a series to come, which will develop more characters most of them being fully human (for now). I hope to explore the interactions between "bio-born" and "techno-born" creatures, maybe raising interesting issues to confront us over the next 50 years. As I am no scientist, I will imagine with a sense of humour to shrug off criticism. It's a hobby, with a simple wish to entertain people. Your comments are welcome if you wish to email me at >> tobiasdingbat@poppycockplace.com |

Kippy Schofield's Adventures with the Fantastical Cat | by Mary Barr Aug. 06, 2011 | You set the price! | 36351 words | Sample 50% |
| Author bio: Mary Barr sees storytelling as an art. Each completed story is a piece of life born from words onto the page. A true storyteller and then a writer, she sees the storyline in its entirety before she begins to write. She shares all the twists and turns which continue to whet the reader’s appetite through to the unexpected ending. It’s not about spelling, vocabulary or grammar, although important, these things alone will never make a good story. Instead, Mary Barr’s readers experience the drama, suspense and intrigue of a captivating plot, with characters who often appear larger than life. Maybe we can relate to the good in each of them or the bad. Do we share their character flaws? Have we experienced similar triumphs or do we merely aspire to get a glimpse into their lives? Only in our dreams can we share their dangerous and exciting worlds. Whatever the answers, true fiction is an art and it creates a vivid image that stays with us long after the book is read. Mary Barr’s stories are created solely from her imagination and promise to keep you turning the page, all the way to the rapt conclusion. Mary Barr and her rich imagination currently reside in Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada. |
