Author bio:
Nick wanted to be that mystical figure, an author, from almost the very first book he read. As a child his mind constantly buzzed with characters and adventures, fed by an insatiable appetite for stories. Unfortunately, a childhood tramping the wilds of Dartmoor (in the UK), the joys of playing jazz trombone, and generally having a blast, left little time for serious writing as he grew up. Later, an education in science and the demands of holding down a career again pushed writing to one side. Then he hit forty, and realised his imagination had never grown up. Finally, with a second-hand laptop off e-bay Nick embarked on the second most thrilling adventure of his life: writing a novel. Nick has migrated north since his childhood, swapping the wilds of Dartmoor for the tranquility of the New Forrest (Hampshire, UK). He is enjoying the adventure of having a family (the greatest adventure of his life)with three lively daughters, who all enjoy reading as much as he does. In addition to writing, Nick lists his hobbies as gardening (the variety that employs a large pair of choppers and requires him to sit around admiring the view), swimming (because it frees his mind and releases his imagination), juggling (because he can), and one day he would like to learn to play the piano (because the trombone really isn’t a solo instrument). Visit Nick's blog at www.NickTravers.com to catch up on current activity, articles about writing, and discount codes for his books.

My books are aimed at broadening the imaginations of children eg mini adults - I have only uploaded a few pages so far of one of my books - more will go up shortly - I started writing for my 2 young children after my divorce - it was a way of keeping in touch with them - I created hardcopy versions and gave them away to my kids and it has grown from there - I used to also visit schools and read to the children - to see the delight on their faces is fantastic - you can almost feel their imaginations growing, expanding as you read to them - this went on for years until now my children have now grown into adults and have children of their own - Now is the time to venture into the world of having my books published in e-book format - If it works - great - if it doesnt - its not a problem - I have written dozens of childrens books - my genre being light hearted and comical although I have also written some books aimed at the 'thriller' market - hopefully the new world of ebooks will encourage more writers to get out there and get creative - well done Smashwords and keep up the good work -kind regards Christopher

My name is David and i wrote the book Ressuruction of KIng Tut. My second book is also coming out soon and will be sold at $2 and it will be longer and a much more exciting book. This one will have more adventure. King Tut will be mentioned briefy but Susana is still there. here is a brief summary. So Susana heres a story about Plato about the greek gods and talks about Atlatnis here is the first chapter:The night was warm and misty, Susana stay awake on her bed reading her book report book that was due tomorrow. When she finished the book she put the book on her bedside table and was fast a sleep before you knew it. She was tired of the long hours of soccer practice and basketball and drama class and was glad to have finished her book report. She had a very strange dream that night. Plato the grand teacher of Alexander the great told Susana a story. “Susana this is the story of the Greek gods. Their father was Kronos who was the ruler of the cosmos at the moment was the king of the titans. A prophecy had been stated that one of the sons of Kronos would over power him and send him to Tarturus. (Susana new this because her book report book had stated these facts). Kronos had four children. Once three of the children were born Zeus’s mother could not bear him be eaten and so gave kronos a rock instead. Kronos was illing and so could not see properly and Zeus’s mother new that so she gave him a big rock. Kronos ate the rock thinking it was his fourth child. 15 years later Zeus went to his father and made him puke all the other three children. Then with his fathers on scythe Zeus cut kronos into pieces. Zeus then went into his father’s position and became the king of the gods. That brings our story to Poseidon. Poseidon became the ruler of the ocean and because earth is the only planet with ocean. Their he created land so that inhabitants could grow. One of the places he created was called Atlantis. Atlas had beautiful woman and men and children. Of these fine woman there was a woman named Ryes. Of all the other people he made this one he made as best as possible. Once he created Rye he asked her to marry him she willingly said yes. Poseidon was so happy that he gave her one of his most prized positions a pearl that would grant every wish. Rye had many children, their names Asia, Africa, North America, South America, Antarctica, Europe and the favorite of Poseidon and Rye was Atlas. All of the children were then given there on place o rule and Atlas was given the best place, Atlantis. All Poseidon’s kids were fighting over their lands. All of them wished they could have Atlantis. They were upset that of all of the kids they picked the most youngest and most childish of them all. Soon there was a world war thousands of Poseidon’s most beautiful creations were totally destroyed. When Poseidon felt the presence of so may dead people in the ocean he got very angry, so angry that literally all the continents separated. So angry he used a whirlpool and sucked in all of Atlantis, and then Rye remembered her gift and bit the pearl and wished an air bubble covered Atlantis. As Atlantis suck down under the water, an air bubble formed and Atlantis went underneath the ocean. After that Atlantis was underwater and has been gone ever since, but soon that will all change. With that last word Susana woke up. Susana had wanted to ask so many questions. She new it was just a dream but those last words still bothered her. Was it true that someone will find Atlantis soon? Cant wait for the book

THE CHILDREN OF THE ROCKS by LEE HARGUS HUNTER THE CHILDREN OF THE ROCKS by LEE HARGUS HUNTER March 04, 2009 $3.00 46321 words Sample 50%
Author bio:
ABOUT LEE HARGUS HUNTER Lee’s writing reflects the many influences in her life. Her novel, “Where the Nightbird Sings”, is a glimpse of western culture and history. She spent her early years on a west Texas ranch absorbing the wild tales her great uncle told around a campfire in the evenings. Every detail found a niche in her memory. Her grandfather was a cousin of the famous “Old Doc Hargus” of nearby Dimmit County and the inspiration of many of these tales. Her family’s later move to the big city of Dallas was a cultural and physical shock. It was during the Great Depression and her parents had no idea how bad things really were as they had lived in isolation on the remote ranch. Lee is currently writing an anthology inspired by these times. Watch for “They Call It Prairie Creek.” After public schools, Lee attended the University of Texas and Southern Methodist University. When many years as a Civil Service employee became too boring to bear, Lee switched to personnel work and eventually owned her own agency. Writing was only a hobby until early retirement gave her time to broaden her writing interests. “Welby the Worm Who Lost His Wiggle” and the “Welby the Worm” workbook introduced children to her work. The enthusiastic young fans of Welby the Worm caught the ear of local home school organizations and Lee became an instructor at their Home School Enrichment Centers. A love of mystery stories inspired Lee to write “The Paragon.” This story of evil deceit is not for the faint-hearted. During this period Lee became a freelance essayist. She has been published in many on-line and print periodicals. This resulted in her becoming a motivational speaker. Lee’s teaching of middle school students revealed the need for a different textbook for young writers. This gave birth to her writer’s textbook, “Writing with All Your Senses”. It is widely accepted, especially in Home School classes. Other books by Lee include “The Song Goes On” (the sequel to “Where the Nightbird Sings”) and a youth historical adventure “The Children of the Rocks”. The Welby workbook was self-published. Lee’s other books were self-published as computer disc books. (Save a tree!) Lee and her husband John live and work in the Ft.Lauderdale, Florida area. They have eleven grandchildren and two great-granddaughters.

I've been writing stories almost since I was able to pick up a jumbo crayon and put words on paper. I love what I do and I feel blessed to have the opportunity to share these tales with my readers. My work is typically classified as young adult literature, if only because the stories are clean and most of the characters are young. There's more to it than that, though. Every book I've ever personally loved has been what I'd call ageless. That is, it contains something that can touch the heart of a child while he's still too young and raw to appreciate subtlety, but there's also something in it that he can still feed on when he's old and gray, although perhaps not the same things. It's my aspiration to write stories like that. In fact, the majority of my readers are adults who want to read something that will uplift them and make them feel glad to be alive that day. We all need beautiful stories, and without them we suffer. If you'd like to know more about me or my work, please visit my official author's website at www.williamwoodall.org

A "Glorified paper shuffler"! I was born and raised in rural Central Utah. I graduated from LDS Business College, Salt Lake City, Utah; thereafter I worked as a secretary and also a paralegal secretary for many years, and am an experienced business writer. I’ve traveled the country, and lived in the western United States all my life. I enjoy writing, and have written poems, prose, funny Xmas newsletters, and short humorous stories (Erma Bombeck style). 1 - “Homer the Helicopter Grand Canyon Adventures” is my first book. A shorter version was selected as a finalist in Shamrock Publishing Co.’s 1997 children’s fiction contest. 2 - My humorous short story“One Wife’s Viewpoint” was published in the April 1994 issue of International Cessna 180-185’s Aircraft Newsletter. 3 - Homer the Helicopter Grand Canyon Adventures eBook was judged the 2007 winner in the ebook category of the Indie Excellence Awards by a panel of publishing experts in editing, marketing, publicity and design. The award is sponsored by Smarketing, LLC. Homer eBook and printed book are duplicates of each other. 4 – I was invited by Experimental Aircraft Association to be one of their featured authors in “Authors’ Area” at the 2008 Airventure Convention, Oshkosh, WI, which convention I did attend. My other interests include genealogy and playing the piano. Presently, I live in Brighton, Colorado, with hubby, Charlie, a private pilot—(I myself a previous pinch-hitter pilot), where we fly his vintage Cessna 180 aircraft. My inspiration for writing Homer’s story came from my husband’s in-flight encounter when a bald eagle challenged Charlie’s small aircraft’s maneuvers. P.S. Actually, I'm not so great but my book is.

Mary Tomasi-Dubois' goal in writing her stories is to capture the imagination of young readers and to develope an interesting story for adults to enjoy as well. Mary's hope is that they will then get involved in a discussion of the plot, writing style, historical events, etc.; much as a book club might. Mary Tomasi-Dubois is a native of Cleveland Ohio, but has lived in California since the age of three. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, and a long and varied career. Being a teenager in the fifties allowed Mary to achieve some firsts for that era—the first girl admitted in her junior high and high school’s drafting classes as well as the first girl in her college’s architectural classes. This lead to being the first women hired as an electro/mechanical drafter at Lockheed in the early 60’s, during the Race to Space frenzy. Throughout her early career, Mary worked as an architectural drafter, tooling drafter, electro/mechanical drafter, printed circuit designer, and CADD manager at the dawn of the computer age in Silicon Valley. Mary later went back to school to obtain certification in one of her passions, interior design, and now has a successful Interior & Reality Enhancement business. She combined her talents to teach drafting for interior design students at UC Santa Cruz Extension for 15 years. In 1987, Mary joined forces with her husband, Paul, to expand their company, Tomasi-Dubois & Associates, Security Consulting and Engineering, and with the addition of an engineer, began designing large-scale integrated security systems for some of the nation’s fortune 100 companies. Today, the company enjoys the prestige of the greatest form of marketing—‘word of mouth’ recommendations. As a child, Mary loved making up stories about fairies, pirates, and times past in exotic lands, and she loved telling them to her stuffed animals and dolls. As an adult, her interest in ancient history, metaphysics, and more recently quantum physics, has inspired her to weave these topics into another of her passions, writing stories. Mary currently teaches a Young Writer's Workshop and is host of access channel KCAT's Word Sleuth - Detective of All Things Written, where she interviews local authors, publishers (including Mark Coker of Smashwords), librarians or anyone connected with the written word.

After reading fantasy for many years, we took up the pen and began writing. Our stories are children’s fantasy tales about travel and discovery. These are not the trips advertised in a colorful adventure brochure. These journeys begin by stepping through a secret door into a gnome world, or using a magnifying glass to slip into a picture. Sometimes worlds merge together in mist, or time overlaps in the darkness of a cave. In the sunlight, our modest home is not nearly as enchanting as the gnome house of our imagination. The maple and dogwoods in our yard do not have secret doors, at least none that we have discovered. Gnomes sitting in the grass amid the dandelions appear to be simple statuary. But when things are bathed in silky moonlight, when clouds gather and add texture to the sky, or at dusk and dawn when stars are like freckles on the heavens, it is then the shadows and light give delightful hints of things that inspire the imagination. As any writer will tell you, a story is meant to be shared. We hope you enjoy our books.

The Knights of Eruin by Miles Goodenuff The Knights of Eruin by Miles Goodenuff Aug. 01, 2009 $4.95 55392 words Sample 20%
Author bio:
Miles Goodenuff has been writing stories for over thirty years, starting when he was still at school and rarely letting more than a few months go by without producing some small work of fiction for his own amusement or for his friends. The "Eruins and Dalwights" series of books are Miles' first complete novels to be published. Miles was born in Surrey and now lives in East Sussex with his wife, three children and two cats. Although not a full-time writer, he now writes for a number of web sites under several different pen names and on a variety of subjects he describes as "mainly boring" including the stockmarket, personal finance and economic news. Miles' fiction is fast-moving adventure that appeals to children and to many adults, written in a flowing style easy to read or to read aloud. Growing and developing friendships in Miles' stories are as important as the central theme of the fight between good and evil, and whether the readers are adults or children they will be able to identify with the emotions of main characters and to feel their successes, their failures, their hopes and their fears in the writing. We may all yearn to have the skills and abilities of Miles' characters, yet we may shrink from the responsibilities and consequences of having those special talents.

As an author, philosopher, public speaker, cigar enthusiast, former pianist and book reviewer, history nut, and all-around good guy, I consider myself something of a renaissance man. My first love is writing and it is in my blood. It started early and has kept going ever since. At sixteen I won 2nd place in a national essay contest and was editor of my high school newsletter. At college I served as editor-in-chief of the campus newspaper. Once out of college I began a popular online book review service. In 2007 I withdrew from reviewing to focus all my attention on writing. I am also an annual judge in Baker Trittin Press’s Tweener Time International Chapter Book Competition. My most recently published work is Passing Through: An Ex-Fundamentalist’s Pursuit of Personal Spirituality.

Cave of Discovery by Steven & Margaret Larson Cave of Discovery by Steven & Margaret Larson Sep. 04, 2009 Free! 39512 words Read a sample
