The Art of Self | by Joshua Evans Feb. 09, 2012 | $4.99 | 10051 words | Sample 17% |
| Author bio: Joshua M. Evans was born in Northridge, CA January 3rd, 1990 and raised in Pasadena, California. He began writing at the age of 8 years old in the form of short fiction stories, and spell checking his parents’ emails. At the age of fourteen he wrote a short story that was published in a nationwide magazine produced by Focus on the Family. At age fifteen he was introduced to poetry writing, during special training from an English professor, at an after school program he volunteered for in Pasadena. Joshua honed his writing skill over the years, and in the year 2008 performed a written piece for Mother’s Day at Hopes House Christian Church. His mastery over the English language, and creative use of metaphors was reflected in the emotional response of the congregation - every woman including his own mother was crying from pure joy by the time he finished, and he was asked for an encore performance for the following service. Joshua transferred to California State University, Northridge from Pasadena City College in the Fall of 2008, and by Fall of 2009 had changed his major from Public Relations to English with a Creative Writing emphasis. In Spring of 2010, Joshua continued to hone his writing while he attended a 6 month course at Youth With A Mission, which culminated in a missions trip to Haiti for two months. Upon his return, he promptly re-enrolled in school with a burning desire to use his overseas experience coalescing with his writing ability and influence with words to begin to change the world around him for the better. From the start of 2011, Joshua has been engaging in spoken word performances all around San Fernando Valley, including the LA hotspot "My First Fridays" (myfirstfridays.net). He was also a core cast member in a poetry play entitled "Poetry At The Cross" put on by TCJ Ministries, that returned for an encore performance due to popular demand. More recently he has been gracing stages at various open mics in the LA area, and joined forces with an up and coming power house, weekly open mic entitled "Lyrical Rhythms." Joshua has identified a common thread among people in modern society - particularly applicable to those pursuing their dreams and passions - they don’t know how to verbalize what their heart is trying to say. Joshua has seen how many people struggle representing themselves on paper, or clearly expressing their ideas and desires in a productive fashion. Joshua firmly believes in the inherent wordsmith in every individual soul, and is determined to aid people in letting it out in order to create a better society by positively transforming people. After being contracted for a few different jobs utilizing his verbal skills and language mastery, Joshua pursued his own dreams of merging business with pleasure, and his publicist skill with his writing skills and formed “The Lion Effect.†After that, the floodgates opened, and Joshua formed "InceptionPLUS" and began the process of penning comic books, inspirational books, and children's tales as well as recording his poetry for the masses to enjoy. Something is either being produced, or going through the process of production so be sure to stay plugged in! You never know what Joshua, The Wordsmith, is going to do next. “Use what you were given, for what you were given to do." ~The Wordsmith |

Christine's Cross | by Joe Biancardi Feb. 08, 2012 | Free! | 2616 words | Read a sample |
| Author bio: Joe Biancardi spent most of his life in St. Louis where he grew up and worked as a policeman, engineer and a salesman trying to find his niche in life. At the age of forty he took his new wife to the gulf coast of Alabama where he raised his three children. “We didn’t realize we’d be trading cold winters for a hurricane prone area. Now, years later he admits the trade-off was worth it. “It’s allowed me to see what the powers of Mother Nature are capable of: from the ferocity of hurricanes to the relaxing sound of the surf at Florida and Alabama beaches. Now almost twenty-five years later he’s retired and found his calling. He writes books dealing with the power of intention as well as other adventure stories. My children and grandchildren used to ask me to tell them a story. Now I put these stories into a book form, living the adventures in my recliner. |

Perfectly Positioned | by Francis Anfuso Feb. 08, 2012 | $10.00 | 66486 words | Sample 20% |
| Author bio: Francis Anfuso and his twin brother, Joseph, were born one year prior to their father being eleted to the first of five terms in the United States Congress. But their father’s absorbing career left little time for his family. They could merely watch from the sidelines as their Dad’s attention was wholly given to the work and prestige of being a famous, influential person. Though Francis felt lost in his family life and Catholic upbringing, God had not lost track of him. His First Communion, at age six, took place on May 14, 1955. Seventeen years later, to the day, Francis received Jesus as Lord and Savior. His godly mother’s intercessory prayers had finally caught up with him. God always has a plan and a timetable. Psalm 27:10 says, “When my father and my mother forsake me, then the LORD will take care of me.†He is truly a father to the fatherless. As God is the “God of happy endings,†so shortly after Francis received Jesus, his mother, brothers and sisters all whole-heartedly gave their lives to the lord. As each of us fervently cry out to God in prayer for our loved ones, he promises to draw them back to him. Francis and his wife, Suzie, ministered throughout the Body of Christ for 18 years. In 1997, they planted The Rock of Roseville near Sacramento, California. Francis’ ministry focuses on an intimate, transparent relationship with Jesus Christ and the freedom and fullness of abundant life in Him. Francis has authored eight books including Perfectly Positioned: When Perspective Triumphs Over Circumstance, Father Wounds: Reclaiming Your Childhood, Church Wounds, and 2029—Church of the Future. Each of his books, sermon series, and conferences proclaim the message of God’s sovereign love guiding our wholeness and destiny. Francis and his wife Suzie have twin daughters, Deborah and Havilah, who serve alongside them with their husbands, Daniel and Ben. They have also been blessed with six grandchildren: Judah, Gabriella, Hudson, William, Wesley, and Grayson. |

On the Meaning of Sin | by Christopher Stewart Feb. 08, 2012 | Free! | 16452 words | Read a sample |
| Author bio: Christopher Stewart loves to try his hand at various artistic endeavours, but if there's one discipline he's perfecting, it must be the art of blooming late. He has studied for a long time, played football even longer, spent a significant part of his adult life developing software on a full-time basis and invested what remained in the pursuit of his ideal of creating meaningful music in the context of a rock ensemble. He has founded the prolific yet still album-less Quebec-based progressive rock outfit Poligraf in 1998 and has never been quite the same since. He has been practising Buddhism dead-seriously since the mid 90s, until he finally awakened to the fact that it teaches living happiness. His interests range from psychology, physics, and philosophy, to mysticism, divination, the arts and the creative process, and, obviously, multitasking and clichés. Pick any task, tag it with the word « impossible, » assign it to him, and he’ll be hard at work for years before the first suspicion finally pops in his mind. |

How I Became A Fearless Woman | by Pamela Jansen Feb. 01, 2012 | $5.99 | 21244 words | Sample 10% |
| Author bio: BIO I grew up figure skating, until I eventually trained to enter Ice Capades. I remember performing on the ice at the Los Angeles Forum, while auditioning. It was so smooth I felt as if I was gliding on glass. The reactions of the panel were that my skating was good, but my thighs were too big. They went on to say that, with constant travel between shows, there'd be no time to repair costumes if the seams were split. Years later I was an instructor for Jack La Lannes Health Spa. Guess what? No more heavy thighs! It was not the kind of job with a future though. Later on, I was hired as a prop maker for Warner Bros. Studios. I worked on such shows as Wonder Woman, Fantasy Island, Eight Is Enough... I also took jobs on my own, designing and constructing stain glass windows. On the night of December 6th, 1978, while driving home I was broad sided by a truck. I fell into a coma and did not awaken for five weeks. Even though I did show slight signs of life, it still took me an additional five weeks to arrive at a state of awareness. Now that I'm awake, I have not stopped. Hurdle after hurdle might have slowed me down temporarily, but I knew there was a reason that I was still here. I even attempted to return to my old job at the studios, but was unable to keep up. Another hurdle... I graduated from LIFE BIBLE College in 1989. The complete story is in my book, HOW I BECAME A FEARLESS WOMAN by Pamela Jansen, which is now available online at Amazon, Ingram, Barnes & Noble, NACSCORP and Baker and Taylor. Featured in the book, Fearless Women: Midlife Portraits by Nancy Alspaugh and Marilyn Kentz, photography by Mary Ann Halpin. I speak to different groups about my story and how to never lose hope, or they will give in to that fear of defeat. Acting became a love of mine that I am not about to shake. I began studying in 2001 because, I realized... If I can't get there behind the camera, I'll get there in front! © Copyright 2012 |

Answers By God! Death: Why You Die, Where You Go, What You Do | by William Allan Feb. 01, 2012 | $2.99 | 21853 words | Sample 20% |
| Author bio: I am W. Allan. I am a graduate Harris Teachers College and Washington University in St. Louis, Mizzery. I lived in Mizzery until I moved to Florida in 1984, and my only regret is that I didn't do it sooner. I have no background in writing, and if my English Comp. Teacher knew that my ABG column was read with some enthusiasm around the world today, she would roll over in her grave. Thank God for "Spell Check" and "Grammar Correction". If I were to be allowed only one word to describe myself it would be "curious". As far back as I can remember; I have been curious about why things were as they were. Of course, I realize now that things are as they are, only as far as my perceptions interpret them to be. I have learned that reality is not all that simple. Things are as they are, only to the extent, as they appear to be to the physical senses, and we all live in a world of appearances. I have learned that if you want to find what lies inside of the inside, you must to a large extent, set aside the intellect and release the intuitions. I guess you could classify me as a "wonderer", since I have always wondered about what lies beneath the physical world that our senses present to us. I always knew there was more to reality than was apparent to the casual observer, and at that time I was a casual observer. I now reside in Bonita Springs, on the outskirts of Naples Florida. I sometimes use Naples as my place or residence, rather than Bonita Springs, simply because Naples is more well known. I have lived in Florida for some 25 years now, moving here in 1984 from St. Louis. I began writing articles some 15 years ago for a few spiritual/metaphysical magazines, but found early on that I always met with some frustration, since the normal magazine allots only 1000 words or about 1 full page to their articles, one page and no more. I learned early on that I just could not explain the difficult universal concepts that I wanted to talk about in 1000 words or less, so I quit doing that. Sometime later, I stumbled on the blog format and set up the "ANSWERS BY GOD" blog web site. This blog format offered me more latitude in writing my articles and the available space only limited by my own good sense, which I have never been accused of exercising too rigorously in the past. I still found this inadequate, since my goal was to help others understand concepts that are barely able to be grasped by the human brain, and that kind of knowledge cannot be explained in 500 words or less. So now, thanks to technology and the e-publishing book format, I can finally fully express my ideas and concepts, as I never could in the past. The ABG blog web site contains hundreds of articles, condensed in content to fit the blog format, but it's a great place to review the nature of my book material. The "Enigma" books allow me to elaborate on some articles carried in the blog, but there is much more. One important thing I have learned is that the individual personality knows no limitations. Translation; you can truly be whatever you believe you can be, so don't sell yourself short. Believe big. |

I live in the Bluegrass State of Kentucky, married, children and as the days pass by, struggle to understand the depths of life, death, survival, accomplishment, failure, sorrow and contentment. I will be sharing some of the most intimate details of my life through my writings. I am an emotional writer so if you are hung up on grammar and proper English you may struggle with my writings. My writings are meant to touch the heart, light the path and encourage the reader not to surrender. My main purpose for writing is to heal, if not others, myself. Thank you for allowing me to be a part of your journey. |

| Author bio: Hi Writing must be in my blood since my father (Harold Scott) was a writer, my sister was a writer and now my daughter is a writer. I have always enjoyed writing. Some of my inspiration comes from listening to children talk and use their imaginations. I also illustrate my books and I love to draw coloring pages and color them with children. |

Tra le mie opere: "UNA STRANA COINCIDENZA" (Di Salvo Editore, 2003), "Sprofondati nell'incubo" (Antologia Eco-grafie - La memoria, Di Salvo Editore, 2005, "L'incontro" (Antologia Caffè Ristoro , Edizioni ETS, 2006) e, su www.ilmiolibro.it, "L'ARCHIVIO" (2008), "MESSAGGI DALL'IGNOTO" (2008), "MENTRE IL CIELO CADEVA - Quel giorno a Manhattan" (2008) e "VOLEVO FARE LA PIPI' IN PIEDI" (2009). Vivo tra Pisa e Milano dove esercito la professione di Dottore Commercialista. Attualmente, sto scrivendo un racconto e due romanzi. Curiosi? |
